What Types of Contraception Services are Available in Liverpool?

Our NHS contraception service gives you quick access to birth control without waiting weeks for a GP appointment. We offer free, confidential advice on oral contraceptive methods, helping you choose the option that works best for your lifestyle and health needs.

Through the NHS service, you can get the combined pill and the mini pill directly from our pharmacy. During your consultation, our pharmacist will assess your suitability, explain how each pill works, and help you make an informed decision.

In addition to the NHS pill service, we offer Depo-Provera and Sayana Press injectable contraception as private options. You will receive a 12-month supply, and Sayana Press can be self-administered at home after your first supervised dose in the pharmacy.

For long-acting options such as the implant or the coil, we cannot fit these at the pharmacy. But we’ll explain how they work and signpost you to the right local clinic quickly.

Our service includes regular check-ups if you’re using hormonal contraception. We can monitor your blood pressure, discuss any side effects, and help you switch to a different pill if needed.

Need emergency contraception? Walk in anytime during opening hours.

How we treat Treat Our Patients?

During the consultation, we’ll discuss your medical history, current medications, and lifestyle to find a safe and suitable contraceptive method. We’ll explain pill options, effectiveness, and side effects, and answer any questions you have.

Once you choose a method, we can provide it immediately through our NHS service. For private injectable contraception (Depo-Provera or Sayana Press), we’ll schedule your first dose and teach you how to use Sayana Press safely at home.

You’ll receive clear instructions on correct use and what to do if you miss a pill or have any issues. Follow-up appointments are free and easy to arrange.

All services take place at our pharmacy, no GP or hospital visits are needed for NHS oral contraception or private injectables.

Safe Contraceptive Advice, Supervised Locally

Choosing contraception is personal. You need accurate information and time to decide what’s right for your body and lifestyle.

At Orrell Park Pharmacy, our trained pharmacists give evidence-based advice on all contraceptive methods. We explain how each option works, how effective it is, and what side effects you might experience.

We’re realistic about effectiveness. No contraception is 100% except abstinence. We’ll explain actual success rates, not just ideal scenarios. This helps you make informed choices.
