Frequently Asked Questions

If you find yourself uncertain about any details or have further enquiries, we encourage you to reach out to our team. We are committed to providing you with the necessary support and answers.

How long do travel vaccines last, and will I need boosters on future trips?

It depends on the vaccine. Hepatitis A can protect for up to 25 years after two doses. Typhoid needs repeating every three years. Yellow Fever is now considered valid for life for most travellers. We’ll check what you already have so you’re not paying for vaccines you don’t need.

Required vaccines are legally enforced at the border. Yellow Fever is the main example. Recommended vaccines aren’t compulsory, but they protect you from real risks at your destination. Skipping them is a gamble, not a saving.

Some vaccines are safe during pregnancy, others aren’t. Live vaccines like Yellow Fever are generally avoided unless the risk of the disease is high. We’ll assess your situation carefully and only advise what’s appropriate for you and your baby.

Yes, but it needs careful planning. Live vaccines may not be suitable, and your immune response can be lower than normal. Book an appointment and bring a list of your medications so we can tailor advice accordingly.

Most can be given together without any problem. Some combinations require a gap between doses. We plan the schedule around what’s clinically appropriate, not just what’s convenient, so you’re properly protected without unnecessary delay.

Bring your vaccination record and we can continue the course from where you left off. You don’t need to start again. Most interrupted courses can be completed without losing the protection you’ve already built up.

Potentially, yes. If you contract a vaccine-preventable illness and your insurer finds you didn’t take reasonable precautions, they may refuse to pay out. It’s worth checking your policy, but getting vaccinated is usually the safer choice on both counts.

Yes. Just let us know before the appointment. Our pharmacists are used to anxious patients and will take things at your pace. Most vaccines are quick, and we can talk you through exactly what to expect beforehand.

Mild reactions like a sore arm or low-grade temperature are common and usually pass within a day or two. For anything more serious, seek medical attention promptly. We advise all patients to wait briefly after vaccination and give you clear aftercare guidance before you go.

Risk doesn’t disappear just because you’re in a resort. Hepatitis A, for example, spreads through contaminated food and water, which can affect any traveller regardless of accommodation type. Your itinerary matters, but your destination’s risk profile matters more.
